So it's a lovely summer day.
But I'm inside the house.
With the air conditioning, which I am not a big fan of.
This morning I went out to the range with Pop, Jake, and Drew G. Fun times. :) I brought my target home...it's soon to be posted on my bedroom wall. :)
Yesterday was a surprise birthday/graduation party for Ryan M. There's always fun to be had with that bunch! We played volleyball for awhile...my hand is currently sore...but I don't want to fold laundry...so I'm typing. No pain, no gain, eh?
Right now my church (
) is going through a series entitled "Answers for the Stress and Strain of Life." It's following Psalm 23. A great series. This weeks topic was busyness. I know for myself, I'm almost always busy. And sometimes it seems justifyable because I'm doing it for the church. But who really suffers? Me? My family? My friends? Pastor Sean mentioned that no preacher has even had someone [on their deathbed] say, "I wish I had spent more time at the office." No it's always, I wish I had spent more time with God, my family, et cetera. What is it gonna take to make all of us (myself included) realize that we aren't promised tomorrow? I think we all have the head knowledge...but do we really apply it? Life throws tradegies our way and we think, oh my goodness we need to change our lifestyle. To love more. To forgive more. To show God's love more. And for a time, we might succeed. But then we fall into the same habits time and time again. Yes, God wants us to work. Yes, He wants us to succeed. But He also wants us to rest. Rest our bodies, rest our spirits. If you do that, you'd be amazed at the changes you'll notice in yourself.
I'm pretty sure I'm rambling on...sorry.
So awhile ago, I wanted to include some things in every post...then that post got deleted or something. So here we go.
Blessings: Coming back from Guatemala really gives you some perspective changes. One thing that very clearly stands out is that we live in very blessed nation. Most of use could choose between two to five different places to go buy groceries. Prepackaged, ready to eat food. In Guatemala, one day, a job we had to accomplish was killing/cleaning chicken. Like seriously. We never ever think about how the chicken came into that packaging...we just buy it, cook it, and eat it.
Ugh. The laundry is calling me. Peace.
